INFORMATION
Needs Statement
This educational activity has been planned in accordance with the need
to provide emergency physicians and emergency psychiatrists with the most
current information on conventional and novel treatment options when treating
the acutely agitated patient in an emergency room setting.
Educational Activity Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:
- Describe the challenges
emergency department physicians face when treating the agitated patient;
- Compare and contrast the
various treatment options for acute agitation including conventional
and new atypical antipsychotics;
- Demonstrate the benefits
of treatment choices for the emergency physician, the treatment team,
and the patient.
Target Audience
The target audience for this activity is emergency physicians and emergency
psychiatrists.
Accreditation Statement
This activity has been planned and produced in accordance with the Essential
Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical
Education (ACCME). The Center for Health Care Education, LLC, is accredited
by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Credit Statement
The Center for Health Care Education, LLC, (CHCE) designates this educational
activity for a maximum of 1.75 category 1 credits toward the AMA
Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those
credits that he/she actually spent on the educational activity. To receive
credit please complete each presentation and fax or mail the Posttest
Answer Sheet and Registration form to the CHCE.
Release/Expiration Statement
This activity is eligible for CME credit from July 2004 through July 30,
2005.
